It was a long time coming that an outfit like this would gain traction in Hanoi. Synergy managed to find out a little more from Slo-Lo, one of the Selectors of Sub Elements.

So how did it all begin?

It all comes from my idea of gathering a group of people who are into the low sound in music. especially electronic dance music. I started showing my buddies how to dj and stuff as well as introducing them great bassy music. And then we started thinking about this seriously and here we are.

Where did the name Sub Elements come from?

It came from the sound that we all like - the sub bass sound. the low frequency.

What gave you that initial push?

My love for music of course, and also I want more people to know about the local electronic music scene too.  I want them to see that we have talent that needs to be more widely known and appreciated.

What was your first record you bought?

It was gonna be Goth-Trad - Babylon Fall. but then juno ran out so that didnt happen. ha!

Out of all the tunes you have, which one never fails?

Radikal Guru - Dread Commandments

What's you favourite tune of all time?

Phaeleh - Plateau

When all the partying is over how do you like to chill out?

I roll one, sit back, put on some mellow music and chill.

Other DJs you rate? Locally and abroad

Technically JASE, musically JC. Theyre ones i respect the most by far.

What advice would you give to up and coming DJs?

Open to music first, and then think of mixing later.

When you play is this pre planned set?

Depends. Sometimes yes, sometimes the mood is different than when i prepared so i just let it flow.

Anything else you want to say? Any shouts?

Sub Elements to me is a great opportunity for young and untrained djs who are into this kinda sound to learn from experienced ones. we hang out and talk alot, thats how we exchange stuff. Its also getting support from abroad so the chance to go outside isnt small. plus we're like brothers, we support, help and respect each other, i think that helps building a solid scene, where theres no confusion about fame, money blah blah. so, come to us if you think you could fit.
